A NOTE ABOUT UPCOMING MARKER DEDICATIONS
Usually, the spring and summer are seasons of celebration for the Ohio Historical Marker Program. Across the state, local communities happily erect their latest marker and host an event to commemorate their Ohio story now told proudly for all who stop to read their marker.
Since March 2020, the world-wide pandemic has put many such celebrations on hold. But, as vaccines occur around the state, country, and world, we are all infused with new hope and a few dedications are beginning to be scheduled for 2021. Watch your local and social media for updates. Many more marker sponsors adopt the wait-and-see caution Covid-19 has taught.
Below is our growing list of new markers as well as some that are currently in production.
If the marker has been installed, a complete listing will appear on the individual county pages of Remarkable Ohio. When and if a dedication comes to our attention, we will post that information as an alert on the individual marker page.
If the marker has not been installed, but a dedication date has been set, we will post a covered marker and the dedication information on the county marker listings. Such covered markers will appear in their numerical order of the county listings.
All this to say, keep your eyes open for new markers around the state! Should you see one of these markers installed but don’t see a photograph of it on Remarkable Ohio, please send us a photograph and we will update our pages with the full marker text and your photograph.
Thanks from the Ohio Historical Markers Program!
