Title
Buckeye Furnace Photograph
Caption
This photograph documents Buckeye Furnace near Wellston, Ohio. Buckeye Furnace was built in 1852 and operated until 1894. It was one of nearly eighty charcoal iron furnaces in the Hanging Rock Iron Region in southern Ohio. The furnace was reconstructed around the original stack; a casting shed, charging loft, and engine house were also built. Buckeye Furnace is managed by the Ohio Historical Society (Om3095_001).
